Before you arrive at  McDougall Lodge you will want to purchase your Alaska Fishing license on line at https://www.adfg.alaska.gov

Book a flight to Anchorage from your nearest airport. Stay at the  hotel of your choice  once you arrive in Anchorage, or arrange to leave the same day by float plane.

Accessible by float plane, McDougall Lodge is located 65 miles northwest of Anchorage. Experience the thrill of flying over untarnished wilderness with Rust’s Flying Service, and you don’t even need to worry about booking your flight. We’ll take care of all the flight arrangements for you and your party. You can even purchase your airline-approved fish boxes right at Rust’s Flying service to have your fish fly home with you.

  • What to Bring

    Recommended Packing List:
    • Breathable waders and boots (No felt bottom boots allowed since 2012)
    • Hip Waders will work but we suggest chest waders in case of rain
    • Polarized sunglasses
    • Mosquito nets or repellent (30% Deet works well)
    • Sunscreen
    • Camera

    Clothing for variable weather conditions (layers work well), such as:
    - Short-sleeved and long-sleeved shirts
    - Fleece pullover
    - Hooded sweatshirt or warm hat
    - Fleece pants or long johns to wear under waders
    - Short and long pants
    - Hooded rain gear
    - Heavy boot socks
    - Durable shoes, hiking boots or sneakers
    - Hat or cap for sun protection and/or warmth

    • Sandals or slippers to wear inside the lodge
    • Personal toiletries/medicines (linens are provided)
    • Alcohol/tobacco, if desired (we cannot supply these items)
    • Desired late-night snacks
    • Cash for gratuities (average tips are $470 to $940 each guest)
    • Fishing license (may be purchased online)
    • Headlamp or lightweight flashlight (daylight is limited in August and September)
    • Laptop, if desired (WIFI is available for free)

    Remember to travel light. When traveling by float plane, baggage space is limited to 50 lbs. per person. You may wish to bring a duffel bag instead of a hard suitcase to save space. Laundry facilities are available for guest use at the lodge for a small fee. If you contact the lodge in advance, they may be able to have some alcohol shipped out for you.


Policies & Agreements

  • Guest Responsibilities

    All guests will be responsible for the following:
    • Furnish and pay for transportation to/from Anchorage Alaska
    • Furnish his/her own waders and boots (please note that felt-bottom boots are not allowed in Alaska since 2012)
    • Pay cost of shipping frozen fish to his/her address
    • Pay for food and lodging for dates outside this booking timeframe
  • Cancellation & Refund Policy

    A non-refundable $500 per person deposit  is due at time of reservation.

    Second payment to equal 50% due 180 days before they are to arrive and a final 50% payment due 90 days before they were to arrive.

    Final payments are due 90 days prior to your trip departure date and are also non-refundable .

    • Updates to contact information, cancellations, or name changes must be received in writing.
    • Any name changes or name submission within 90 days of trip departure will incur a $50 fee. Replacement name, phone number, and email address must be submitted at time of request.
    • Trip or date transfers, within the same season, may be made prior to 90 days of trip departure based on availability, for a $75 per reservation fee.
    • Transfers within 90 days or your trip departure date are not allowed. No transfers are allowed to a later season. All existing payments become non-refundable at the time of a trip or date transfer.
    • Transfers more than 90 days before your departure date are allowed if transferring to the following year for a $500 per person charge.

    McDougall Lodge, LLC will not be deemed in breach of these terms or otherwise liable to you, by reason of delay in performance or nonperformance of any of its obligations under this agreement to the extent that any such delay or nonperformance is due to any Force Majeure. “Force Majeure” means any circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including without limitation acts of nature, terrorist activities, insurrection, explosion, flood, tempest, forceful wind, fire or accident, war or threat of war declared or undeclared, sabotage, civil disturbance, labor strikes, requisition, sickness, quarantine, pandemic, epidemic, diseases and viruses that are known, unknown or novel such as coronavirus/COVID-19 (including any spread thereof), food-borne, airborne, and communicable illnesses and disease, government intervention of any kind that affect domestics and/or international travel, government restrictions or warnings, border closings or restrictions, weather conditions, and unforeseen circumstances.

    If Force Majeure prevents, significantly hinders, renders it difficult, or makes it impossible for us or our Suppliers to provide the Services including but not limited to your trip, we and our Suppliers shall be entitled to, in our sole and absolute discretion, vary, reschedule, postpone, cancel any tour itinerary or arrangement, including trip dates and the entire tour itself. We may, in our sole and absolute discretion, give you a travel voucher with certain terms and restrictions that can be used to book one of our trips or we may rebook you on another departure. We may also change the action that we choose to take in our sole and complete discretion. No cash refunds, including credit card refunds, will be given in the case of Force Majeure.

    If we are affected by Force Majeure, we, if practicable, will notify you of the nature and extent thereof.
